• Students not yet admitted to Texas State need to complete the Apply Texas application and list their first choice major as one of the business majors to be considered for Texas State and McCoy College admission. Additionally, to be considered for admission to McCoy College, students must apply by the deadlines and, for transfer students, have the required courses completed. The deadlines are October 15 for the spring semester and March 15 for the summer term and fall semester.  Questions about this application process should be addressed to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. 

• For students that are currently attending Texas State, applications to McCoy College are available in the CenturyTel Advising Center, McCoy Hall 115, or can be printed from this website and turned in to the CenturyTel Advising Center on or before the deadline. The deadlines are October 15 for the spring semester and March 15 for the summer term and fall semester.  Questions about the current student admission process should be addressed to the McCoy College Academic Advising Center (CenturyTel Advising Center). 

• For students currently attending Texas State, the McCoy College Application for Admission is not accepted if you have over 30 hours and have NOT completed MATH 1329, ENG 1310, and ENG 1320. A calculus level math that is equivalent to MATH 2471 may also be used in place of MATH 1329. 
• For students that intend on transferring to Texas State and fill out the Apply Texas application: if the required courses are not completed students will NOT be considered for McCoy College Admission and instead will be considered for admission to their second choice major or as undecided.  Students who do not meet admission requirements for McCoy College are often admitted as undecided professional which indicates they are seeking McCoy College admission.  These students are eligible to take courses in the general education core curriculum, lower-level business core, and business administration minor until they are admitted to the College.  They should determine what requirements they do not meet and work to complete those during their first semester at Texas State if they wish to pursue a business major. 

• If when you left you had been previously admitted to the McCoy College then follow the procedures for former student admission that are provided by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. 

• If when you left Texas State you were not admitted to the McCoy College then you will need to follow the procedures provided by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and complete the following additional steps.  You must also fill out the McCoy College Application for Admission (current student procedures).  The McCoy College deadlines apply.  If you have over 30 hours completed then to be considered for McCoy College admission you must have completed the required courses of ENG 1310, ENG 1320, and MATH 1329. 

The McCoy College of Business Administration is a capped enrollment program at Texas State.  A competitive review used to consider students for admission to McCoy College that do not meet the automatic requirements. The number of students admitted who do not meet automatic admission criteria is determined by committee. 

• For high school seniors and students with fewer than 30 hours completed the review is based on the high school academic record and ACT and/or SAT composite scores.
• For students with more than 30 hours completed the review is based on overall GPA and grades earned in ENG 1310, ENG 1320, and MATH 1329. 

• If you are seeking McCoy College admission and Texas State admission, apply to Texas State by the appropriate university deadline and list your first choice major as one of the business majors. However, you will not be considered for admission to McCoy College and instead only to Texas State.  Once attending Texas State you may complete only courses that you are eligible for prior to being admitted.  Then apply to McCoy College by the next deadline (October 15 or March 15) using the McCoy College Application for Admission. • If you are currently attending Texas State, you may apply to the McCoy College by the next deadline (October 15 or March 15). Review application procedures for more information.  Prior to being admitted to McCoy College, you are eligible to complete the courses in the general education core curriculum, lower-level business core, and upper-level business courses that are part of the business administration minor which will apply towards your selected major once admitted.  View the "Changing to a Business Major" brochure for more information and a list of these courses. 

• If you are already attending classes at Texas State then you must follow the current student process for admission. 
• If you are not yet attending classes at Texas State and if it is before the deadline for McCoy College admission for the semester you will begin, then contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to update your application. If it is after the McCoy College deadline, then complete the current student process for admission by the appropriate deadline once you begin attending classes at Texas State. 

• If you are a freshman, since your admission decision was based on your high school record you may re-apply after completing 30 hours that must include ENG 1310, ENG 1320, and MATH 1329. Your overall GPA needs to be as high as possible since admission will be based on college coursework once you complete 30 hours. Make sure that you meet the application deadline. 
• If you are a sophomore or higher, then prior to the admission decision you should have been working on courses from the general education core curriculum, lower-level business core, and business minor.  Courses on the minor and many courses in the general education core may be applied towards an alternative degree program/major.  Current Texas State students that wish to continue pursuing McCoy College admission should meet with an advisor at the University College or McCoy College to determine the best strategy for raising their GPA. 

Current Texas State students interested in becoming a business major may obtain advising from the University College Advising Center.  The advisors here assist students with identifying strategies for success and course selection from the core curriculum, lower-division business core, and any applicable courses from the business administration minor. 

McCoy College advisors provide information sessions in the fall and spring semesters for students that are interested in becoming a business major.
